About Us

Born from the Islands. Made for the World.

The story of Hawaiian Flair — and why aloha is more than a word.

Hawaiian Flair Hero

Where It Began

Hawaiian Flair didn't start with a trip to the islands. It started with a phone call from my sister, telling me she'd fallen in love — with Hawaii, and with a man who called it home.

When she married into a Hawaiian family, I gained something I hadn't expected: a window into a culture that is warm, generous, and deeply rooted. I've spent years getting to know her husband's family — sitting at their table, listening to their stories, learning what ohana really means when it's lived rather than printed on a tote bag. They taught me that aloha isn't a greeting you say at the airport. It's a way of showing up for people, every day.

Hawaiian Flair grew out of that education. I wanted to build something that honored what I'd been given — not as an outsider cashing in on an aesthetic, but as someone who has been welcomed into the circle and takes that responsibility seriously.

What Authenticity Means to Us

Authenticity, for us, is not a marketing word. It is a discipline.

It means designing from a place of genuine respect — drawing on real Hawaiian visual traditions like the bold geometric repetition of kapa cloth, the fluid curves of ocean swell, the sacred geometry of the honu — rather than reaching for the nearest cliché. It means holding every product to a quality standard that reflects the care behind its design. And it means being honest about where we come from: not Hawaiian by birth, but connected by family, by relationship, and by years of listening.

When you wear or display something from Hawaiian Flair, you are carrying a piece of a living culture — not a caricature of it.

Our Philosophy

The concept of ohana — family, in the broadest sense — is at the center of everything we do. Ohana means no one is a stranger for long. It means you bring people in, you share what you have, and you show up. That's the spirit we try to bring to every interaction, every product, every order that leaves our door.

Aloha, as I've come to understand it through the people who live it, is an orientation toward the world: generous, present, unhurried. We believe that beautiful objects, made with intention, can carry that spirit into everyday life — a mug on your desk, a rug beneath your feet, a shirt that makes you feel, just for a moment, like the ocean is never far away.
